Taj Mahal!

AH-HAAAAA!

We had to draw the Taj Mahal as a perspective exercise for our structural drawing class. I used 3 point perspective to really exaggerate the fish-eye effect and give the whole thing some sense of scale.

This thing took forever! Unfortunately the pictures don't do it any kind of justice but for now they'll have to do. Eventually I'd like to scan it somehow....

This whole being-in-art-school business is fun! Although inevitably results in an incredibly hectic lifestyle.

Here's a little tonal study I recently finished. It was a black and white oil painting, over a few weeks.

Progress

Sooo we're done week 2! It's going by ridiculously quickly and it's been pretty interesting!

The teaching approach is much more fine-arts based than I had expected but I'm quite pleased with the results so far.

I drew this yesterday:
3B pencil on newsprint. 2hrs approx. The point of the exercise was to aim for precision using points and your pencil as a judge of angles.

The Farm!

As part of orientation week at MtM we went to a bunch of places to sketch and get to know everyone. We went to the AGO, the ROM, and Riverdale Farm. Seems like a nice bunch of people at the school as well. I'm pretty excited about this.

I've decided to start an art blog.

I'm starting the 4 year concept art program at Max the Mutt here in Toronto. I'm pretty excited about it so I'll be posting my work here!
